Planning & Zoning Department Information

The mission of the Department of Planning & Zoning is to plan for a healthy, vibrant community with a sustainable balance of growth and development; to prepare, maintain and administer supporting plans and regulations; and to engage and educate the public in the planning process.  

The Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for the community’s long-range planning efforts, including keeping the master plan current and conducting various studies to address emerging issues within the Township. The Department also manages the Land Use and Development Ordinance (aka the “Zoning Ordinance”,  see link below) by processing zoning permits and reviewing applications for development.

Hillsborough Township uses an online system called SDL to offer a convenient way for citizens and community members to engage with the municipality online. Create an account or log in to SDL Portal for 24/7 access to the following services:
