Mission Statement
The Administration Office, encompassing the functions of the Clerk’s Office of the Township is committed to the day to day operations of the Township while addressing the needs of the various departments, the Township Committee, the residents, property and business owners of Hillsborough Township. In addition, the Office of the Clerk is committed to ensuring the requirements set forth by the State of New Jersey pursuant to N.J.S.A 40A:9-133 are complied with.
The Administration/Clerk’s Office is the front office of the Township Government. In addition to assisting the elected Hillsborough Township Committee, the Administration/Clerk’s Office helps provide a myriad of services to the residents of Hillsborough Township. The Administration/Clerk’s Office is in charge of the day to day operations of the township, as well as overseeing the needs of the other departments. The Administration/Clerk’s Office provides the town with numerous services including organizing and running the Township Committee meetings, as well as providing essential township information to enquiring residents. The Administration/Clerk’s Office is also responsible for licensing in the town, including alcohol, peddlers, raffles, and other licenses.

About Us
Anthony Ferrera Administrator/Human Resource Officer/ADA Director/Deputy Zoning Official
Anthony Ferrera currently serves as the Township Administrator. He is responsible for serving a population of over 43,000 residents in a 54 square-mile suburban township, ensuring the municipal quality of life, economic viability, and fiscal integrity. He directs human resource functions, including the development and enforcement of personnel policies, and the creation, and execution of departmental and individual annual goals and objectives for a cumulated staff of over 200 employees and a $37 million budget.
Mr. Ferrera was a business executive in the private sector with over 20 years of management experience and a former Hillsborough Township Mayor and Committee member. He previously worked for The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Empower Somerset, and AT&T.
Mr. Ferrera’s most notable contributions while on the Hillsborough Township Committee include the establishment of the Hillsborough Senior Center, Quiet Zones, tax exemption for 100% disabled Veterans, and the inclusion of all children, those with and without disabilities into the Township Recreation Programs.
Mr. Ferrera was a Hillsborough resident for over twenty-five years. He is a dedicated volunteer to many community organizations.
Mr. Ferrera was awarded the New Jersey Municipal Managers NJMMA "Outstanding Manager Award" & "Career Development Award, the Spirit of Somerset Award for " Volunteerism", and the Somerset County "Disability Advocate Award."
Mr. Ferrera holds a Master of Science in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Sarah BrakeTownship Clerk/Public Information Officer
Sarah Brake currently serves as the Township Clerk. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Saint Josephs University and is a long time resident of Hillsborough. The Township Clerk's office is entrusted with numerous and diverse duties. By law, it acts as secretary to the governing body and liaison between the governing officials and the taxpayers. It also acts as the public relations office in the municipal organization. The Township Clerk's Office is directly accountable to the Mayor and the Township Committee and provides them with essential information. It is also the licensing official for such things as alcoholic beverage sales, peddlers, solicitors and canvassers, raffles, bingo, games of chance and issues permits for special affairs. It is also the keeper of the Townships records and has the task of collecting and preserving them.
