Committeewoman Jill Gomez Announces Pregnancy

Gomez is believed to be the first woman to serve on the Hillsborough Township Committee while pregnant

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ –“It is with great joy that I share that my husband and I are expecting our second child,” announced Jill Gomez at the March 10th Township Committee meeting.

The announcement may hold historic significance, as it is believed Committeewoman Gomez is the first woman to serve on the Hillsborough Township Committee while pregnant.

“As we mark International Women's Day and Women's History Month, we are proud to celebrate Jill Gomez, whose dedication, leadership, and impact embody the very progress we honor this month,” said Committeewoman Samantha Hand. “As the only woman known to have served this committee while expecting, we are proud to support her in this joyful milestone.”

“I am delighted to share a piece of deeply personal and joyful news. My husband and I are expecting our second child this Fall.

As we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere, I am proud to announce that I will be the first committeewoman in our township to serve while pregnant. That is not a distinction I take lightly. It is a responsibility I carry with humility, with purpose, and with profound gratitude for every woman who came before me and paved the path on which I now walk.

To the women of this community, especially those who aspire to lead, please know you do not have to choose between your calling and your family. You do not have to shrink yourself to fit into spaces that were not built with you in mind. You can advocate for your neighbors and grow a human being at the same time. Women have always done both. We simply haven’t always been seen doing it.

My voice on the committee will remain strong. My dedication to the issues that matter to our residents and our community’s future will only deepen as I prepare to bring a new life into the very community I serve. Every decision I make is already made with the next generation in mind.

Thank you to my husband, family, friends, and community for their support during this time.”

Mayor Catherine Payne also conveyed her support. “On behalf of the entire Township Committee, we wish Committeewoman Gomez a happy, healthy pregnancy and look forward to meeting Hillsborough’s newest resident.”
