Bird Flu Outbreak Being Monitored Throughout the State

The NJDEP and federal partners are currently monitoring a statewide outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), which has affected wild birds nationwide since 2022. Residents are asked to report sightings of sick or dead birds—especially in groups of five or more—via the Wild Bird Disease Reporting Form .
