The Revolutionary War lasted eight years in New Jersey and is referred to by many as a civil war. Lurie’s unique perspective examines the different sides of the people involved: loyalist, patriot, neutral, trimmer, straddler, and opportunist. Her focus is on the people rather than the battles, showing the great cost of the war no matter what side was taken.
