Hillsborough Unveils Plans for America’s Semiquincentennial: A Year of History, Community, and Celebration
Township to host a series of commemorative activities honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States.
HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. — Following the successful milestone of the Township’s own 250th anniversary five years ago, Hillsborough is preparing to join the national stage in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Deputy Mayor Shawn Lipani highlighted the Township’s commemorative vision at the January 27 Township Committee meeting, marking the start of a year-long tribute to American history and local heritage.
“Hillsborough has always taken immense pride in its place within the American story,” said Deputy Mayor and 250th Anniversary Committee Liaison Lipani. “After the wonderful community response to our Township’s 250th anniversary, it gives us great pleasure to now join the rest of the nation in celebrating this historic Semiquincentennial. We are building on our past successes to ensure this year is a memorable one for every resident.”
The Hillsborough Semiquincentennial planning team has been meeting regularly to develop a robust schedule of interactive activities designed to appeal to residents of all ages. These initiatives include the launch of interactive historical maps and the installation of a historic trail marker. Residents can also expect a wealth of educational content and creative activities.
