Hillsborough Township Committee: Livestream Comment Policy
Hillsborough Township Committee: Livestream Comment Policy
The Hillsborough Township Committee is dedicated to transparency and providing accessible ways for residents to stay informed. Our social media livestreams are a digital extension of our Municipal Building, and we expect the same level of professionalism and decorum online as we do in person.
The "Town Hall" Rule
Please be advised that the comment section on social media platforms is provided for viewer convenience and real-time engagement only. * Not Official Testimony: Comments posted on a livestream do not constitute official public testimony or a formal part of the meeting record.
-
Formal Inquiries: To have a question or comment officially addressed by the Committee, residents should attend the meeting in person and address their questions to the Mayor during the designated public comment portion or submit a formal written inquiry to the Township Clerk’s office.
Community Standards for Engagement
To ensure our digital space remains a productive resource for all residents, we ask that all participants adhere to the following:
-
Stay On-Topic: Please keep comments focused on the specific agenda items and township business currently being discussed.
-
Maintain Respect: Personal attacks, Harassment, or "mockery" of township staff, elected officials, or fellow residents will not be tolerated.
-
No Spam or Solicitation: Repeated "play-by-play" commentary, commercial side-conversations, or off-topic links distract from the proceedings and may be removed.
Moderation & Enforcement
The Township reserves the right to disable the commenting feature at any time during a meeting if the discussion becomes abusive, unprofessional, or disruptive to the meeting's primary goal of broadcasting. Users who repeatedly violate these standards may be hidden or banned from the page to ensure a safe and respectful environment for the rest of the community.
